Water damage is one of the hardest things to spot in your home before it’s too late. Normally, by the time we see signs of water damage, the damage itself is extensive.
Here are a few things to look out for if you suspect water damage in your home or office:
Smell:
When water damage occurs, if not treated right away, it can lead to mold growth giving off a musty smell. Your nose knows when something is off so if you suspect water damage try to “sniff it out” and find the source.
Discoloration:
Check your ceiling, wall, or surfaces for discoloration and dark spots. It could look like streaks a puddle mark of dried water.
Leaking:
This one of pretty obvious. Usually, if something is leaking it means there is water trapped on the other side. Don’t just collect the water that is leaking out, find the source to stop the leak.
Of course, these are only a few signs of water damage to look for. In some cases, water damage may be so hidden that it is only discovered until much later when bigger problems arise. To prevent water damage, make sure to keep up with necessary home improvements, and properly winterize your home.
