First Comes Storm, Then Comes Damage - New Bedford 02744

12/24/2019 (Permalink)

Winter storm damage is usually conjoined with damage to the exterior of your home or building but may cause damage to the interior if the water isn’t stopped. Most severe water damages can be caused by flooding when the foundation's drainage system has been weakened or isn't performing properly.

The best preventive action would be to beware of the damage and have it repaired as soon as it appears. Understandably it isn't a practical thought to check your roof after every storm, you can't predict when a pipe might freeze, and you can't dig up your foundation to check for problems. You can have annual inspections performed and take care of built-up damage as soon as it is found. Contacting a roofer to check the roof and a licensed contractor to and recognize signs of foundation drainage problems.
