Goodbye, Summer - New Bedford 02747

man in green shirt addressing a crowd at Annual End of Summer Bash South Coast Chamber President Rick Kidder addresses the attendees at the Fourth Annual SERVPRO End of Summer Bash

They say goodbyes are the hardest. Which is why we try to make it a little easier for our professional network and local business community by hosting our annual End of Summer Bash in conjunction with the SouthCoast Chamber of Commerce and the Bristol County Chamber of Commerce.

This Business After Hours is easily one of the most attended events in the region with over 150 business professionals in attendance. Business owners, representatives, and attendees all enjoyed free food and drinks as well as music DJ’ed by local radio station, FUN107. We even had local pageant queens make an appearance and a dog in a backpack!

Over 20 door prizes were donated by local businesses, giving everyone enough chances to go home a winner! Among the prizes were restaurant gift cards, gift baskets, and a getaway to Vermont!

Overall, it was another well attended SERVPRO Bash and one we were happy to host for the local business community. Being so involved in the economic and financial development of the South Coast region and beyond, SERVPRO of Dartmouth / New Bedford understands the importance of establishing and maintaining business connections to continue to thrive and grow in our community. As a result of these connections, businesses helping businesses, we know that everyone benefits. From a local youth sports team to fundraisers, to neighborhoods across the region, local businesses are what makes a community great.

Next year, we hope you’ll join us as you represent your business and help us continue to make the South Coast a great place to live and work!

Back to School Safety Tips - New Bedford 02745

8/12/2019 (Permalink)

Each new school year brings its own set of changes and challenges for parents, guardians, and children. As a parent or guardian, you may be trying to figure out of modes of transportation and schedules for your young one. Your child, on the other hand, maybe worrying about who they’ll sit with at lunch or if they’ll have classes with any of their friends.

These are all common and worthy worries, however, there is one important precaution that is often overlooked: an emergency preparedness plan. Below are a few tips to help you plan in case of an emergency

  1. Teach your child what to do in case of a fire: get low to avoid smoke inhalation or feeling doorknobs for heat before opening them. Have a fire escape plan in place.
  2. Have a designated meeting place outside of your home
  3. Designate a person (preferably not local who may be affected by the same disaster) that everyone can call if you are separated.
  4. Practice drills!
  5. Put together a first aid kit with enough food and supplies to last you a few days. Here is a link for what should be in the kit
  6. In the event of an active shooter, teach your child to “run, hide, fight.” Click here more information about what to do in the event of an active shooter.
  7. Teach children how to call 911
  8. If you’re unable to pick up your child from school, establish a pre-discussed “password” for the person that will be picking them up.
  9. Always familiarize yourself with the school’s emergency and lockdown plans and procedures.
  10. If your child requires any medication, have extra doses stored in the nurses’ office in case they may have to spend the night at the school.

Disasters can happen at any moment. Preparedness is the key to ensuring you and your family make it out safely. While SERVPRO of Dartmouth / New Bedford South is “ready for any sized disaster” we want to make sure you are too.

Six Years

4/23/2019 (Permalink)

Cheers to 6 Years!

Happy anniversary to us! It’s been six years under the ownership of our fearless and exemplary leader, Doug Glassman. A lot has happened in these six years.

It’s been six years of:

Giving back to our community

Volunteering our time and resources

Contributing to economic development in the south coast

And above all, it’s been six years of not just restoring buildings and homes, but restoring hope after disappointment. Six years of cleaning up damage and wiping away tears. Six years of empathy for those affected by disasters in our community. We’ve seen a lot and grown a lot over these past years and we wouldn’t trade it for a thing! But today is really about the community we call home. Thank you for letting us serve you for six years and for calling us when disaster strikes and trusting us to restore your home or office to its preloss condition. We couldn’t do this without your support.

Earth Day

4/23/2019 (Permalink)

Here at SERVPRO of Dartmouth / New Bedford, we don’t only talk the talk, but we also walk the walk. By offering a full line of green products for our Earth-conscious customers, we are committed to doing our part to keep our planet safe from harmful chemicals. We understand that Earth is our only planet and one that we plan on inhabiting for a very long time. If we’re being honest (and at SERVPRO we always are), the Earth we know today is not the same it was 20 years ago. With pollution and unsafe waste disposal playing a huge role in today’s world, we want to remind you of a few things you can do to care for our planet:

  1. Follow the three R’s: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
  2. Conserve water
  3. Shop smart - bring a reusable shopping bag to cut down on plastic

In addition to following the three R’s, at SERVPRO, we added another R to this list: Restore. Whenever possible, after a loss occurs, we always do our best to restore the affected property to preloss condition. This ensures that we minimize our customer’s losses while also keeping unnecessary waste from filling our planet.

Happy Earth Day, from all of us here at SERVPRO of Dartmouth / New Bedford.

RASEM RED Expo

4/11/2019 (Permalink)

This year, SERVPRO of Dartmouth/New Bedford South had the pleasure of participating in the RASEM RED Expo once again. Each year, RASEM — Realtor Association of South Eastern Massachusetts , hosts an educational event highlighting market trends as well as keys to realtor success. We found these events to be insightful and beneficial not only to realtors in south eastern Massachusetts but to vendors such as ourselves. We were able to gain insight into today’s market and address concerns and answer questions from realtors in the area. One of the main concerns being mold remediation and how it affects the sale of the home. We’re proud to assist many of the realtors in the area with this issue and more. As a community-focused company, it’s always great to get in front of those we work with and explain a little more of what we do here at SERVPRO of Dartmouth/New Bedford South. In addition to answering questions, we were also able to establish great connections  and foster relationships we’e developed over the years within the real estate community as well as other vendors at the event. Once again, we are so thankful for the opportunity to be able to be involved in such a great event!

An a-MAIZE-ing Network - New Bedford, MA 02745

11/22/2017 (Permalink)

Happy Thanksgiving from our SERVPRO Team!!

In this time of gratitude; we at SERVPRO of Dartmouth/New Bedford would like to give thanks to all of our loyal customers, reliable vendors and to everyone who helps spread kind words of our company and refer us to their friends, family and customers!

We understand the value of a referral. More importantly, we understand the importance of living up to unspoken expectations set while being referred. It takes great trust in our ability to provide excellent service. A referral is a reflection of the individual or company giving the referral; we do not take that lightly.

Fire, water and biohazard clean-ups, such as hoarding, bodily fluid and infectious disease clean-ups, require a certain compassion and empathy. People ‘grieve’ differently. While some express sadness, others anger, and some shut down completely. Life prepares us to face certain inevitable situations; however, as often as unexpected disasters occur, people tend to not expect it will ever happen to them. We take pride in staffing employees who are understanding of the obscure job responsibility that most onlookers wouldn’t immediately associate with a company like ours. To our staff; thank you.

A referral to us is more than a simple transaction. It is a testament to all that we strive to be. Not only as restoration specialists but as compassionate, problem solvers. We strive to make the customers experience with SERVPRO of Dartmouth/New Bedford nothing shy of exceptional.

Happy Thanksgiving, From our family to yours!!

MA Insurance Agent CE Course- Dartmouth, MA 02747

11/10/2017 (Permalink)

Below are the Continuing Education Requirements for Massachusetts Insurance Agents. This information is provided by the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents:

“A newly licensed insurance producer must complete 60 hours of continuing education credits prior to their initial license renewal date; otherwise a licensed producer must complete 45 such credit hours during the 36-month period prior to license renewal.

As of 9/17/14, Insurance producers must complete an approved 3 hour ethics program for each renewal cycle. This new requirement does not increase the overall number of CE hours an insurance producer must complete, it only requires that ethics training make up at least 3 hours of the total CE earned.

If you do not comply with the continuing education law, the Division of Insurance may suspend your license pending completion of your CE requirement and/or you may be subject to a civil fine of not less than $20.00 nor more than $100.00 for each hour of instruction you fail to complete.”

At SERVPRO of Dartmouth/New Bedford we understand the importance of continuing education; we also understand that costs to maintain credits can add up quickly. We strive to offer our neighboring agents the opportunity to attend one of our complimentary CE courses. It is our goal to provide agents with 2-3 annual courses, helping with costs and ensuring there are local course options, here in the Southcoast. Breakfast & lunch are also provided.

Like us on Facebook to follow our event calendar or call our office directly (508)999-2380 to find out when our next complimentary course is being offered.
